This project was to design and create a Christmas Tree for the Chichester Festival Theatre’s contribution to the Chichester Tree Trail 2024. The intention was to tie into the studio production for that year which focused on the concept of ‘home’. To this end I created a tree which was composed of homes of all types, using reclaimed doll houses and some purpose built homes as well. I wanted every child that walked by the tree to recognise their version of home within it, and therefore ensured that everything from large houses to blocks of flats were displayed. Working with a team of scenic artists I decorated the homes with Christmas lights and displays, and we lit each home internally so the entire tree glowed once darkness fell.
